JJ's Day in the Sun

You might think that a joint would want to stay indoors in dim light, so his flame would, in contrast, show up better. But no! As generations of beach aficionados have discovered, a good hand-rolled smoke is equally at home in the bright sun and ocean air.

Abigail and Sarah make a start on a sand castle

On a gorgeous June day at Venice Beach, JJ had his picture taken a bunch of times, in the company of several great models who made full use of the background's possibilities for fun and interesting photos.

Even here, where you're likely to see just about anything if you hang around long enough, a quartet of folks sporting Lit & Lovin' it! shirts drew attention

It wasn't a day without strangeness" says project coordinator Marc Madow

Kimberley and Abigail know a true patriot when they see one.

The photographer for this project is Stephanie Cohen, of Elie Photography Studio in Los Angeles.

Stephanie and her crew did JJ proud with heaps of artistic shots, showing off JJ's adorable physique.

The models are Abigail Christensen, Rafick Issagholian, Kimberly Leon, and Sarah Shaffer.

The World According to
JJ the Fanciful Joint

JJ Fortuenti is not only a voice of sanity for decriminalization, but first and foremost, an advocate for creating a "lit" life, whether or not cannabis is the drug of choice. He and his friends - Pixiedust, Munchie Mike, Freeda Budd, Jamama, Straight Kate, and others, illuminate different aspects of the controversies over recreational drug decriminalization, medical marijuana, industrial hemp, etc.

Soon JJ will begin to present "transcripts" of radio interviews with these characters. A section of his site will tell about the martyrs of the cannabis movement - people who have taken a stand and paid a price, and how messed up that is. Pixiedust will run a section about the literature of recreational drug use - book reviews and casual mentions in mainstream novels.

JJ and his friends will research well-known people in the creative arts and other fields, and explore what recreational drugs have fueled their creativity. There will be a section about movies where people smoke pot, and another on the music of stonedness: the songs about marijuana and the bands who use it as their creative engine. He'll have an assortment of quotations from all kinds of people about marijuana and other inspirational substances. JJ will also scold the particularly noxious and harmful officials and law enforcement bozos who have been on the wrong side.

JJ and his friends are interested in talking with a voice of reason, to parents and people in authority, about the responsible use of recreational drugs. And always, JJ and his friends emphasize that true "litness" comes from within and has nothing to do with what you smoke.

You don't like it? Fine. But don't take mine.
